Private Control Threatens Milwaukee's Drinking Water
On June 15, 2009, join Campaign Against Violence / WI League of Young Voters and many other organizations in a protest against water privatization of Milwaukee's water system. Milwaukee officials are considering a risky and expensive way to balance the city's budget: They want to lease your drinking water system. in this scenario, a corporation would pay the city an upfront fee for the right to control your water for nearly a century. Despite the city's intentions, the proposal is no silver bullet for budgetary shortfalls, and it could hurt your pocketbook and your water service. Where: City Hall 200 E Wells Street When: June 15, 2009 @ 1pm Sharp How: Wear a blue shirt to show your support Please contact our staff at 414.372.7088 for details. |
