DID YOU KNOW?
- In 2007, the 26 towns in the GREATER PORTLAND REGION collectively spent over half a billion dollars on automotive gasoline and diesel, which accounted for 40% of all the energy used in the region
- Fuel oil provided over half the total energy used in our homes in Greater Portland, and purchasing that fuel cost residents nearly $150 million in 2007
- Electricity only made up 11% of the total energy used in the region, but contributed 20% of the total greenhouse gas emissions
The Greater Portland Council of Governance (GPCOG) would like to invite you to join them on Friday, March 5th for a Lunch & Learn about energy use and emissions in Greater Portland.
A representative from the climate organization Clean Air-Cool Planet will be presenting the results of an energy and emissions inventory of the Greater Portland region. This presentation will focus on the energy used by residential, commercial, industrial and transportation activities in the region, and the associated greenhouse gas emissions and financial costs.
Bring your own lunch and meet at 68 Marginal Way at 11:45am. The Lunch & Learn will start at noon and seating is limited.
Please RSVP to Maddy Adams at madams@gpcog.org is you plan to attend or if you have any questions.
Hope to see you there!
