ReEmergence 2010

Kaleidoscopic Community: Celebrating Portland's Creative Economy!

The League of Young Voters would like to invite you to join us for our fifth annual ReEmergence Party! Each spring, about 300 young people join us for this exciting event to celebrate local arts and music, and to educate and engage our peers on local issues.

This year’s theme is “Kaleidoscopic Community: Celebrating the Local Creative Economy.” We will highlight Portland artists, artist resources, and art organizations that work together to preserve the creative economy for which Portland is so well known. The evening will feature Dreamosaic and Theodore Treehouse as our headliners, along with writers, belly dancers, and other various artists, as well as local music and entertainment. Our event this year will be held at Space Gallery on April 29th from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The theme "Kaleidoscopic Community" is particularly important because of the current political landscape in Portland. With entertainment licenses being questioned in our downtown business district, and the opportunity to pass a Portland Charter that includes an elected Mayor, we have the opportunity to make that connection for people. Being able to elect a Mayor who cares about our local creative economy will help that economy flourish.
