League of Young Voters Brooklyn Program Internship

The Brooklyn League of Young Voters is looking for a super talented intern to work with our New York City staff to organize our local campaigns in Brooklyn this fall and beyond!

This fall the Brooklyn League is working on PowerVote: a national campaign of young Americans demanding real solutions to global warming by voting to secure our climate through the creation of a clean energy economy and green jobs for all. As part of the Energy Action Coalition, we are working together with over 40 other non-profit organizations recruiting young people to sign a pledge to vote and continue to hold our leaders accountable after the election.

The Program intern will be responsible for recruiting and managing a volunteer street team of young people who will advocate for PowerVote at festivals, concerts, parties, and candidate appearances, as well as coordinating voter outreach efforts to make sure everyone who signs the pledge gets out and votes!

We need a self-starting, motivated, independent worker who can recruit and retain volunteers to work with us.  We need somebody who knows politics, knows New York City and knows people. You’ll need to recruit people to come to events, volunteer with us, and donate, as well as deal with the logistics of event planning.

We are the ones we've been waiting for.

Skills/interests:
• Knowledge of New York City politics
• Experience in activism and event organizing
• Commitment to social justice

• Sense of humor
• Research, writing, editing, and general communications skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, highly motivated, and mission driven nonprofit organization.

Perks:
- Possibility for advancement
- Be a part of an exciting youth-driven political organization
- School credit, where applicable
- Possible stipend

This is an amazing opportunity for a self-starting, fun person who is excited to take on a leadership role in a brand-new project!

To apply, send a statement of interest and resume to rachel@theleague.com with “program internship” in the subject line. Sincerity is better than style, or length; just be yourself and take a break from the absurdity of the usual job-application process.
